What is the most memorable bus rental you’ve had? The most memorable bus rental I would say the Jim Sarogy**. We did Jim Sorgi’s daughter. She rented from us a few times. It’s always good energy. It’s always a nice vibe.
How did you know it was time to expand to two buses? Once we started getting more bookings back to back and we couldn’t cover all the bookings. I knew it was time to get a different bus.
What made you decide that you wanted to be an entrepreneur? Growing up I really didn’t like working for nobody. It’s like all the jobs I had was warehouse jobs and just having people over me telling me what to do and when to do it. I just knew I wanted to do something different. So, I joined the business world and thought I could save up some money and start my own business. So, that’s what I ended up doing.
How did you select the businesses that you got involved in? I wanted to find something to be different. So, I came across the party buses. We don’t have a lot of party buses in the city or if we do, they’re not luxury buses. So, once I had my idea of where I wanted to go, I started looking for party buses. Now, we’re here! And I love clothes! I always said I kind of wanted to have my own clothes or come up with my own creation. So now I’m doing my own clothing line called Muney Motivated and it’s starting to do good. My family, they are hair stylists. So, I knew it would help them to get us a beauty salon. All my businesses just came over time and that’s really how I started everything.
Do you think that it’s important for you to know how to do something in each of your businesses? Yes, I think that would help especially when you’re starting from scratch by yourself and you don’t really have a lot of help. I had to start learning how to drive the buses until I found someone else to drive the buses. With Stylish Unique I knew how to cut hair beforehand. That’s what made me want to join the barber industry. My clothing line – I love dressing. I love stepping out. I always wanted my own clothes. I always wanted to wear my own brand. So, I feel like it’s important to learn the ins and outs of your own business if you want it to be successful.
What are you most proud of about your entrepreneurial journey? What I’m most proud of is me just staying consistent with it. There’s a lot of things that you go through just having businesses. Just staying consistent and being able to maintain my buses and keep everything up, I’m proud of that. I’m proud that my businesses can pay for themselves. That alone makes me happy.
What’s your motivation to keep going when entrepreneurship gets overwhelming? My kids! Everyday when I wake up my daughter and son. I always wanted generational wealth. I’m not just doing it for me no more. I’m not doing it or worried about me no more. It’s all about my family: mon, dad, sisters, brothers, and most my kids. I want them to be well off when I’m dead and gone.
What are your goals with your business for Fun on the Run specifically? I really want to expand. I really want it to be bigger than what it is. We’re just located in Indianapolis for right now, but in the next few years, I want to be located in difference places like here, Atlanta, Vegas on the strip. I’m trying to be in multiple locations and expand. I want to offer bouncy houses to them. I want to do catering, set up your whole event for you. So, you won’t have to call and ask different companies or do multiple companies all at once for your birthday plan. We can do it all for you. So, soon I’m trying to expand with multiples different things with Fun on the Run and then services.
